Vision Therapy is a type of physical therapy for the eyes and brain. It is highly effective non-surgical treatment for many visual conditions including:
- Lazy Eye
- Crossed Eyes
- Focusing Problems
- Double Vision
- Eye Muscle Coordination
The first step of vision therapy is having a comprehensive exam. The next step is having a sensorimotor exam. This specialized exam includes additional testing of the visual system including binocular vision, accomodation and eye coordination. Following this exam, Dr. Gibbs can assess if vision therapy is an appropriate treatment for the patient.
The Vision Therapy Program
Are a progressive series of eye excercises performed under doctor supervision. The program is customized for each patient by the doctor. Exercises are prescribed for daily home use and generally will include weekly in-office therapy sessions. Many types of specialized equipment is used.
